Swanson turned down this adaptation of James M. Barrie's "Alice Sit-by-the-Fire," saying "I couldn't possibly play the mother of a teenage girl." At the time, Swanson was already a grandmother.

A remake of Elinor Glyn's novel (with Clark Gable co-starring) was one of the projects MGM considered during Swanson's brief period as a contract players with the studio.
