The star of Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope" and "Strangers On A Train" says that the director talked with him about appearing in "The Birds," but that he was more interested in doing Broadway work than film roles.
According to his book, Include Me Out, Farley Granger turned down the lead role in this film after Marlon Brando also turned it down. Granger wanted to pursue stage roles.
