Sean Astin is said to have auditioned for the part of 'Chris Chambers' in Stand By Me.

According to an interview to promote his reality show, Corey Haim said he had to choose between an ensemble piece (Stand By Me) and a starring role (Lucas). He chose Lucas and River Phoenix got the part.
