Charles S. Dutton was cast in the role of a detective tracking serial killer Michael Myers. Shortly before filming began, his character was written out of the script due to budgetary concerns.

Soles was offered the role of Norma Watson but did not give a straight answer as she was unsure about returning to the series as a difficult character. She eventually lost the role when Janet Leigh became available.
