Reed was offered the part of Princess Aouda and rejected it, as she had just played another "exotic" role as Sacajawea in The Far Horizons.

Reed was announced for the role of Mrs. Romberg in the biographic film of Sigmund Romberg, but her involvement in other films that year prevented her from making it.
